I have a 2000 Ford Explorer and the rear tires have always worn badly on the inside. I've only put around 52k miles on the car since buying it used in 2002 and I've been through 3 or 4 sets of rear tires (different brands). Rotating the tires helps but they are still wearing out much too fast. My rear axle broke out of the blue (just going down the highway) about 4 years ago and had to be replaced. I don't know if that has anything to do with it. My mechanic says the rear tires can't be aligned or adjusted. Any ideas?
