Hello all,

I have about 140K miles on a set of Bilstein shocks. I bought these in 2004 from Off Road World in San Diego. In my humble/subjective opinion, they have become too soft and cannot be adjusted to a reasonable dampening rate. Do any of you know what Bilstein and their dealers consider being a defective shock that is replaceable under warranty?

Thanks,
Zen

It's simply been at my discretion. I got mine originally from Autozone about 10 years ago, and I'm on my third set. Never a hassle, just order the new ones, pick 'em up when they arrive, bring back the old ones, get a credit on my card. I usually change them at about 50K miles. I've got about 240K on the truck now.:usa:

Personally I would be more than satisfied that they lasted as long as they have and retire them for another set. "Lifetime" warranties are for defects in the product, not wear.

140,000 miles on the shocks? I doubt they are going to replace under a warranty. That is well past replacement time for any shock.
