Can anyone tell me the largest tire that can fit without rubbing on my stock 2006 Explorer 4WD XLT with 17" Aluminum wheels without any modifications etc, no lift or anything?

Any change in tire size will require at least 1 "modification". A programmer/tuner to correct the tire size in the computer. If this is not done, it will result in more then just an incorrect speedometer. It will also affect your abs, as well as transmission shift points, since the Explorer shift schedule is based on mph. I would recommend an SCT Xcal3, with custim tuning, as this will offer performance improvements as well.

I was curious as well. Can I change my speedo gear. The tires I'm looking at are almost 3" larger than stock?
