Tires and gears and lift

Ok so i'm lifting my X in summer, end of story. But i got a few questions. I was planning on getting a 4 inch lift and 32s or 33s with Black rims.
1. - Now, if i get 33's will i need to trim my fenders ('94 XLT)?
2. - Is there a cheaper/better way i can get a 4 inch lift rather than spending a grand on a lift kit? If so where can i get new shocks that will fit?
3. - I live in Chicago so they put salt on the roads in winter, i've heard it'll eat away at the black paint, true?
4. - I'm thinking about M/Ts but i was curious if they are any good in the snow. If not i'll prolly just get a set of M/Ts for offroad and summer and get a set of A/Ts for winter.
5. - From my take i should regear to 4.56s, where can i get a set?
6. - Last question =). This is actually about Lockers, i hear manual lockers are alot better, would i be able to wire up a switch to the cab to turn the lockers on/off or would i actually have to get under there? At first i was thiking auto lockers then went around looking at posts and got kinda iffy about it.

P.S. I had a 93 and could do a brake torque, now in my 94 i cant....why the hell not? Locking Diff?

definately listen to unclemeat but on the locker look in to the ox for your 8.8 heard nothing but good about it even from someone who has run both electric and the ox locker

Yeah searching helps sometimes, cant find any answers on the black rims, and i just relized i had posted the tire question in the chart thread lol. Well i just looked into the tires type situation and looks like i'll just get some M/Ts on black rims for summer and A/Ts on chrome rims for winter. Stupid ice...

Are you talking about the ox cable locker? I searcher for one of those and never found one for an 8.8. Do they make them? If so, does anyone know where I can get one?

as for the locker i have the detroit exectronic locker and it is yet to fail me i love it..... i run 35s with 4.56s gears and its good you would be good with 4.56 with 33s you could even go a lil higher gear ratio if you wanted

Nah 4.56 is fine i'm having enough trouble finding the gears, otherwise i got everything else picked out.
