2002 Explorer E.B. 4.6 V-8 I'm hearing a noise from the torque converter area that sounds almost like a exhaust shield rattle. But, it's only noticable around 2200 rpms or so while driving. If I put it in neutral and rev the engine , it won't make any noise, so I'm sure it tranny related. I called my local Ford dealer and spoke the the service manager about this problem. He told me that it is a common problem with the V-8 engine and that Ford is not recalling the problrm. I was told that it is not a failure and that if I could live with the noise, do so.
Does anyone know just what is ratteling and is there a quick fix ?

Welcome to this forum! I've moved your thread into the transmission section. It's not supposed to rattle. There might be another issue such as an engine timing chain or a transfer case issue, but it's possible that the torque converter is starting to go.
