I was replacing my IAC valve because of cold idle issues and was wondering how much torque is required for the 2 bolts. The manual says 89 ft-lbs but the bolts seem to screw into plastic so I'm afraid that 89 ft-lbs may be too much.

Anybody have any answers?

OMG, that's almost the torque of a wheel lug nut! LOL
Ford Workshop Manual specs IAC Valve @ 44 inch/lbs.

no way 89 foot lbs!!! maybe 44 inch lbs (I haven't checked the manual) but the IAC has a real good gasket. i'd just snug the bolts down and you should be just fine. your not talking about lug nuts here.

My bad. Checked the manual again and it says LB-IN not LB-Ft. So that means 7.5 lb-ft. Wheww. I thought that was too high because that's lug nut torque.

Thanks guys for giving my head a shake.

Just snug them down, you don't need a torgue wrench. Use a little common sense. Get a 1/4 drive ratchet, not a 3/8 drive, and snug them.
