I'm new to this stuff and I would really like to lift my explorer for the look and for larger tires for offroading.

I was wondering if anyone could post some pictures of what torsion bars look like, don't get angry if I don't know what they look like, i'm still learning about cars.

Also, if someone could supply me with resources on learning about cars and such would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Warform!
Here's a link to how to lift the front by twisting the torsionbars.
You can't miss them. They are the ones going from your front suspention and back.
I haven't done it myself yet, I'm still waiting to get the money to put in an add-a-leaf in the rear and have the front alignment checked before I start doing any twisting.

Good luck!!

Welcome to the board Warform. If you use the search function on the board to look for either Torsion, TT, or Warrior, you will find lots of threads on torsion twists. I have one on my vehicle with the Warrior Shackles, and it works fine. I put 31" BFG T/A ko tires on with no problems. Check out the link at the bottom of my post for some pix.

NedFlanders, don't bother getting your alignment checked before you do the torsion twist. You will most likely need to get it re aligned afterwards. When you twist the torsion bars, it pulls your toe out of alignment.

Hi Warform,
Seeing as that you live pretty close to some of the best places to go wheeling in California, doing a torsion bar twist and shackles and perhaps a 3" body lift, you could put 33's on and be ready to rock. We go up to Sequoia all the time. Great place to go wheeling. Maybe we could hook up some time and check out Shaver lake area. Oh and welcome to the site.
Here is a picture of my torsion bars when the lift was being put in. the gray metel pieces are part of the lift. You can see both of them off the the sides of the picture. Hope this helps.

Sorry for some reason Photo point pictures don't want to come up as a image, just click on the link and you can see it. Think it's time to find a new place to store my pictures.

Thanks for the help guys.
This site is great.
