I'm thinking about putting shackles and a TT lift on my 98 sport, but I was talking to a guy at a off-road shop and he was saying that the added angle of the a-arms could cause the ball joints to fail and that there would be added wear on the cv joints, even going with just a max 2" lift. Anyone have any info or experience with damage to the front end due to the twist?

you shouldent max out the TT's it can be bad..i was going to do the TT lift but have ne need with my ARC set-up like it is..

Welcome!

As long as you keep it under 2" of TT you're fine.

As Alec said, keep it under 2" and you'll be fine. I've had mine in for almost 40k now. Yes my ball joints gave up a little early, but that is a problem for most Explorers, lifted or not. Ford uses crappy non greasable ball joints.
