We just bought a new trailer and want to tow it with our 1996 Explorer with a V6. The trailer weighs about 1500 lbs. Tougn weight is about 300 lbs.

I had air bags installed on the rear axel but that just raised the rear end and made it ride really rough.

What other options are available for distributing the weight when towing a trailer?

It depends on your type of setup of trailing. If the trailer has the setup like a camper you can hook up some sway bars to the trailer tongue and run up and hook to the hitch. How much weight are you going to be hauling on the trailer? Also, if you have an adjustable hitch, move it up higher. We have (had) a small camper we used for hunting only and we towed it with my dads sport trac and had problems with it dragging on bumps so we moved the ball up and it helped a ton with the ride and handeling.

What type of tralier is it?
