tps question

plugged a scanner to my truck the other day its been idling funny for a while. tps read 17% open when closed and 97% at wot anyone know what its suppose to read

It is normal for the range of the TPS to be significantly less than 100%. Your readings are about the same as mine at closed throttle and greater than mine at WOT. The PCM reads the TPS voltage when the ignition is switched on and assumes that the value is closed throttle. The PCM continually monitors and records the TPS minimum and maximum voltage and assigns the value to closed throttle and WOT respectively.

ah i was hoping my rough idle was related to it but i guess not
