trailer hitch confusion

I am looking to get a trailer hitch installed and I am finding two different hitches, both which mount differently, that claim to fit my 99 Mountaineer 5.0, auto, 4 door.

Two hitches are this curt hitch and also this one.

Do they both fit and what is the difference? Any advantage to either one?

i suggest you check out www.etrailer.com great prices and very helpful. my 2001 Explorer came with a Drawtite hitch. it is a very beefy unit. i also bought a Curt from etrailer.com for one of my pickups. don't go by the pictures on the AutoZone site. they are most likely not the actual hitch you're looking at, just a representation.

I agree. Don't go by the pictures. Go to the manufacturer's website to see if they have the actual pictures and model-specific installation instructions. I know Curt has them. I put a Curt hitch on my 2000 Explorer Limited. The fit is perfect and no drilling required.
