is that adapter under the taillight on every explorer or only the ones with tow package and where exactly is it?

If you dont see the trailer plug anywhere then it probably does not have it. Go to an auto parts store and buy the plug and adapter (comes all together). Then you have to plug it into the light system. It should be in the back cargo are in where the jack and rear washer fluid tank is. Unplug it and then plug it back in with the new trailer connector. Run the wires out and to where you want the trailer plug to be. Hope this helps.

yeah man i will look tomorrow thanks alot!

if you have the tow package check inside the rear bumper. there is a harness for the license lights and the trailer adapter is attached to that. if you have that than in your jack stowage area there should be a 3 ft long adapter plug. it will plug into the under bumper thing and converts to a straight trailer 4-plug standard connection

My '93 has a flex type plastic tube tucked inside the rear bumper. There should be a grey plug that is kinda "tapped" into the main line. Unplug this grey plug and you should see a trailer "female" reciever. You will have to go to pep boys and purchase a "male" type plug that you will install on the trailer. After that, all you will have to do is connect and disconnect when you wish to use it. Let me know if you have any other questions.
