Trailer Wiring

Hey everyone, need a little help. My 96 EB never came with the tow package. I'm adding on a receiver hitch myself (shouldn't be too hard) but I also have to set up the wiring. I found a full trailer wiring kit for my car at GI Joes for 60 bucks. I havn't purchased it yet. Has anyone done this before? Is it hard, or easy? I'm trying to get everything squared away before memorial day weekend, but I'm not sure how much time i'm gonna need wiring this thing up. Any tips or info would be great. Thanks!!!

You might want to invest in a test light ($5 or so) to make sure you are connecting the right wires together.
I dont know of any other tips but make sure that the wiring kit is the one for your rig. Different years seem to have different kits so just make sure...

Do you have the factory pigtail connector behind the driver's side tail light?

I totally cheated. I had UHaul install a class III hitch, and do all the wiring for me. 240$ installed with a lifetime warranty. Not bad, and I didn't have to get my hands dirty!

My sister-in-law just had to have U-haul replace the switching/controler box in her Windstar, (U-haul installed it) The U-haul guy told her that those boxes only seem to last a couple of years.
Just a "heads up" for the future. Keep your reciept......

Actually I do this all the time at work. You've just got to pull out the tail lights and like Bill said, get a test light. Depending on if you want a flat-4, 6 or 7 pole, etc. will decide how many wires you'll need to find. The flat 4 is just a right turn, left tail, brake lights, and ground. Really simple with a test light (turn on the turn signal, start poking at the wires and you'll find one blinking). Good luck.
