Trailer Wiring

'99 Merc. Mountaineer

Under left bumper I have a 4 post connector. My boat trailer has 4 post connector also but there are 2 brown wires coming out of the post next to ground(white). Blinkers work fine, brake light works fine, blinkers work when brakes are depressed, so I dont think it is a ground issue but cannot get running lights to work. Has anyone ran into this?

I'm posting a schematic. You could have a bad trailer/camper relay - that would prevent the tail lamps from working. The relay is located behind the plastic piece in the drivers side cargo area.

The tail lamps should be a brown wire with a white stripe at the trailer connector under the LH bumper.
