Now it's time to check out the Trailmaster rebate. Mail a copy of your receipt directly to Jim Chick C/O Trailmaster and tell him that you are a memeber of this message board and you heard that there was a 10% rebate available for people who purchase the new Explorer lift kit.

I'm sorry, but I don't have an address for you. Call this number 909-272-3176 and ask for their address.

Good luck and let us know how it goes!!

Well I got it.

Well I got it.

There was a little damage during shipping.
The temporary center bolt on the rear leaf springs got bent. This should just make it a little harder to get off. Secondly, one of the torsion bar brackets got bent a little. I think I'll take it to work today and have one of the guys straighten it. Thirdly their paint is very brittle; there are some spots that are chipping off already.

What am I saying? I got the lift and all the pieces are there. I better stop complaining now.

I am going to mail the invoice and the receipt to Mr. Jim Chick like Rick suggested. I will let you know what I hear.

Yikes, just had one of those Dr. Seuss flashbacks...lol.

Congratulations!!

The cheap paint job on Trailmaster Products seems to be a common thing. The Ranger kit I used on my Explorer has the same problem. I bet Ray can second that too.

Good luck, and get some pictures soon!!

Yea, I can, and I also had parts that were bent and even the wrong parts. I got 2 left rear torsion bar brackets.

Great News!

Jim Chick from Trailmaster just e-mailed me! I sent them a copy of my invoice and receipt and told them that I was a member of the best explorer site in the world. They will be sending me a 10% rebate.

Jim Wrote:

"Dear Mr. Johnson,
Received your letter today. Who will be installing your suspesnion system?
Trail Master will be getting your rebate check out no later than December
18th.
Jim Chick"

Glad to hear the kit finally came out. I called California Concepts to get a quote and they told me $1700 for the kit plus ~$800 for the install on my Sport Trac. As far as I know, its the same kit for any Explorer 98-01. Are they just ripping me off on the kit price?

Also, what do they list as the largest tire you can fit. I know Superlift has a similar 4" kit coming out in 6-8 weeks. It will allow 33" tires.

I paid $1356.95 for my lift from national tire & Wheel. That included free shipping. I did not get any quotes for the installation of the system. I did however check with "CarQuest" (the local trailmaster dealer) about the price of the lift. They said that it would cost $2200.00.

The lift is for '98 - and up explorers and sport tracs.

Trailmaster had 295 x 75 R16 BFG AT on their prototype. That comes to a diameter of 33.5" in english units.
I am sure that they were getting a lot of rubbing.

Hope this helps.

Lift won't fit Sport Trac

I had 4 Wheel Parts call Trailmaster regarding this lift today. According to them, Trailmaster does not suggest this kit for the Sport Trac due to the longer wheelbase. They're saying it will be 6-8 months before they have a Sport Trac specific kit. I can't stand the squatty appearance of the Sport Trac, but it looks like I don't have any other options! IS this what they call the bleeding edge of technology?

Superlift should have their Sport Trac lift out in January or February.

Started My install...

Well I started my install on Saturday. We completed the rear and yesterday We completely disassembled the front end. We will hopefully finish it up on Tuesday.

Tires and Alignment later in the week.

I will have to develope the pictures and scan them in for everyone to see.

So far no problems. It is a "bolt on lift" Except for a little ginding in a few spots.

I will keep you filled in.

Don't forget to keep an eye on your shafts lengths and angles!!

Still Working...

I am Still Working on the lift. I got my tires yesterday, they look very sharp!

The lift is not that bad except..

The torsion bar brackets look just alike except for a few little differences. Anyway I received two passenger side brackets.

To make matters worse. Both of them were welded up wrong.

Trailmaster is sending a new driver and passenger side bracket. Should be here today.

I will be getting the pictures developed today, but I probably won’t get them scanned in until Monday.

Can’t wait to drive it!

Looks good. So how long did it take you? Any rubbing? My 31s sometimes rub but I have 0 lift and just trimmed inner fenders. Wonder would 33x12.5 fit with a 4"?

Looks like the lift in the rear was achieved through a spring over conversion? Can you provide some closeups of the rear and stuff??

Thanks.
