Are you crazy Andre or am I? A snow run on those trails? That could be very harsh on our trucks...I think we'd all have traction problem....Not to mention, my dad was talking to some guy who says there's a legal wheelin spot in Elgin(30 miles west of Chicago) and I'll look into that when I get home from school.
Pete

Elgin? Man! it's my back yard.

Keep us posted.

Later,

There used to be a quarry in South Elgin where we would go wheelin back in the late 70's and early 80's. I am not sure if we can still go there but I will check into it.

Dennis, where ya been? Thought you died and went to Explorer heaven. Anyway, glad to hear from you, and let us know what's up with that quarry.

I believe that quarry is off lake street, and it's got gaurds and security 24/7...but I'll find out when I'm home.
Pete

guards shmards...we'll run em over!!!!!

hey dennis!! WHere ya been?!?! Glad to know you didn't go to explorer heaven.....is there such a place? couldn't be a place THAT wonderful.....hehe..

Explorer Heaven

That would have to be a place with no paved roads, Smallest tire would be 35", Solid axles front and rear(with lockers),300+ horse power and 50 miles to the gallon.

Now that I am thinking about it there was a quarry in Coal City that we used to go to all the time. The path in was a little scary but after that it was fun. I think Coal City is by Riffman.

coal city is about an hour and a half north of me on Rt. 113...just a few miles south of where 80 meets 55. What kind of stuff was there?

I want to go off-roading so bad I can taste it. I'm up to my elbows in project "turbo". I have seen that quarry in south Elgin. It doesn't look like they allow people to go off-roading in there. Too much liability. Everyone is way too sue-happy these days. To bad eh?

Anyway, I wouldn't want to go off roading in the snow. Snow has an uncanny ability to hide trail hazards. If I had a dedicated off-road truck I would be more willing to try it.

I was just playing with you guys. This is a perfect time to work on your winter projects. Looks like I found a great "donor" to become my TRAIL ONLY rig. 1991 for $1,500. I'm not sure yet though. Hope to make it happen. Built from the ground up strictly for wheeling. Anyways, I hope we are all getting ready for MOAB? I know it's pretty far away but this would not hurt.

Anyone want to start planning? or perhaps it is too late already?

contact me. I'm going alone, driving there in my Un-Limited unless I can find someone to share a semi.

See YA!

hell man...i've been planning for Moab for the past 2 months!! I got a 2 car trailer lined up (sorry, both spots are taken), but i have yet to find a pull rig. grrr....i am pseudo looking at a 92 f30 xlt w\ a 7.3 powerstroke for only 6500. i think this is a pretty damn good deal, but i haven't seen the truck in person. this is what it looks like.

Dead Link Removed

sound like a good deal?

andre...you better hurry and confirm your going!! there is only one spot left!!!!

Oh, slots? Matt? lol;
No room for me? how come? it's still like half a year till the run, anyways, sounds like Moab is the place. Everybody's going.

If I"m looking to get on where should I search for my rooms? cabins?

HELP!!!

Scott, don't know if it matters to you or not but the 92 7.3 is an IDI motor not a DI, they don't have as much torque or power as the newer DI powerstroke, but they're still a good engine.

The DI "powerstroke" came out in the 94 model year.

Andre, you had to sign up for the trip and there were only 30 slots and they are all full. You can email GJarret to see if you can still get in.

Hey Matt, there was one last spot open so I did sign up and now I'm in the process of shopping for a room.
Where is that Silver Sage Motel everybody is staying at? I might just opt for the Super 8 or Best Western. Ramada is pretty cheap and I'm afraid that it might well be , well, cheap.

Excellent!

I don't know where the Silver Sage is, but it's $44.95-49.95 a night. Let me know if you need the #.
