hi guys me again had a recent problem with a rumble /vibration noise had everything checked that was sugested,
noise is still there when the engine is under load eg towing there is a rumbleing poping noise that you can feel through the floor and under hard aceleration the car feels unstable as is only 3 wheels are driving.if you put the car in 4high there is no noise. could it be a fault with the auto 4x4 system i have covered over 3000 miles and nothing has broken and some days there is no noise at all,on a different note i`ve had the beast lpg converted 33ppl cant be bad
thanks in advance tony b

hi tony not sure what you have checked as i have only just joined the forum, but i have a simaler noise on my 97 and i can feel it through the floor but the road surface would make it worse,so as silly as it sounds have you had the tyres checked as i think my noise ect is coming from my tyres,
just a thought,as even a little lump in one of them will make your ex feel awful

thanks jay,
i had the transmission checked, (drivers tramsmissions in birmingham) front diff,cv & front driveshafts,i had the tyres checked when the noise first occured.

I'm a bit confused here. Unless you are driving on a loose surface the transmission should ALWAYS be in the AUTO position. 4X4 or LOW will induce all sorts of horrible noises and vibrations if you drive on a hard surface. Not to mention damage to the drive train. Try searching the forum (or googling) for 'transmission wind up' for a detailed explanation of what is going on.

Good luck,
Simon H

thanks for the reply
i have only driven the car for a short distance on a grassy caravan site in order to try and find the cause of the noise/vibration otherwise the car is left in auto.i have noticed that as the car gets warmer the noise/vibration gets worse

Popping

Darklord doese the popping happen when you are using the truck on petrol as well as gas. My ex had a gas conversion on it had a dirty inlet which got worse and caused it to pop in the manifold at low revs which you could feel though the floor and peddals. But as high revs it went away but steadily got worse. I am using my Merc at the moment until i get time to take my ex into a gas converion place I know nice car but people don't get out of your way quick enough

the noise was there before the lpg conversion was done
when under heavy load the popping/banging can be felt through the floor of the car
