TRANMISSION PROBLEMS

I'm having problem with my O/D in my tranmission sometime it work and sometime it doesn,t. when I,m getting on the freeway if I shift from O/D to neutral and then back to O/D it well go in. I,m thinking it maybe the O/D soleniod if so is this hard to replace and is there any tricks I should know about.

all the regular questions, how was the fluid level, does the fluid smell weird, how many miles on the tranny?

otherwise I think the modulator might be something to check out, or the overdrive might be wearing out. just an opinion

Thanks for the reply I just changed the fluild and filter the old fluid look good I have 135,000 miles on my Explorer and it runs great.
