Greetings!
Just picked up a 1992 2WD sport. 5 speed with 162.000 miles. Amost everything works (fuel guage inop). Got some plans for it, but have to fix a problem first.
1. Transmission won't stay in reverse. It will shift into reverse, but pops out when clutch is enagaged.
2. There is no overdrive. When going through the gears, it winds up in third when I go for O/D. Can't find the detent for O/D.
3. There is a ringing noise coming from under the truck when clutch is engaged and truck is underway. It's also ther when idling in neutral, but goes away when clutch is engaged.
A. Also, will the hurst shifter for the Ranger fit my Explorer?
B. My mother in law just totaled her 91 Crown Vic with 5.0 and AOD(This transmission was just rebuilt). Would this transmission fit with the 4.0 V6 or should I just swap the whole drivetrain? (5.0 motor would have to be gone through ast it has over 200,000 miles on it.)
