Mine's about the same. The only problem is, when these trannies die, they die suddenly with very little warning beforehand.

2001 XLT with 19,000 kms - bucks in "auto" at low RPMs.

Ford is replacing the tranny in the hopes of correcting a "trailer hitching" problem thats got steadily worse over the last 3,000 kms. This after a fuel pump, computer board, plugs and wires, and tires all proved not to be the cause. If this fixes the problem then definitely some of the trannies have problems!

got my 94' with 50000 miles and my mom gave it to my lil sis now with 93000 miles on the original tranny. And I also dogged the hell out of it everyday. I tow our boat and waverunners every summer back and forth to our lakehouse over not the best roads and not one problem with the tranny still shifts smooth. The funny things is I see more people that are easier on ther trucks and all they get is tranny failures while people like me that are harder on them our trannies last longer. Maybe we should all drive our trucks hard to make our trannies last longer:D

the tranny rebuilds... for the later model explorers are aot alot alot stronger then the stock. i would not have a dealer replace the tranny ( if its not under warrenty ) for the fact they will put the same WEAK stuf back in... i have had mine replaced and i saw the rebuild kit compared to the stock.... definatly alot of changes.

I don't want to say that ford tranny's suck but mine is a 96 xlt with only 80,000 on it. i also have a 89 honda accord and in the 5 years i've had it it hasn't leaked an ounce of any fluid or had any trouble with tranny's or engines or anything major. that car will prob outlast my x.
