In the 3 years I have been on this board, I have concluded you guys are the most knowledgeable around.
My problem:
95 Ford Ranger, 4cyl, auto (A44RE not A4LD), 2wd, 74K on the odo.
This truck hauls, tows, carries NOTHING other than the driver.
Last week the OD OFF lite started flashing. I felt my guts churn. Did not feel any difference in the shifting. Reset the lite, it remained off for about a week. Still running fine. The Lite came back on the other day, shut down (but not resetting the lite) has not come back on yet after about a day or so of driving. Still no drivablity concerns. about 6 months ago filled tranny with Redline and a new filter. The fluid is still red and viscous and smells like new.
The Haynes manual is totally useless when it comes to trannys. What can I check, where is it located ?
I crawled under the other day and saw about 5-6 sensors coming out of the tranny at various locations.
Please advise.
I may go to Autozone/Pep Boys and have them check the alt/volt reg (this truck pull a heavy elec load at night).
Other than that I am at a loss.
This truck is NOT put under ANY undue stress, I mean how hard can you drive a 4cyl, 2wd, auto ?
