So I'm having a problem with my transmission. When driving in 1st, it accelerates well but the shifting seems delayed to 2nd. It revs high and slams into gear. But if I manually shift it myself form 1st to 2nd, it's perfectly smooth. Shifting through the rest of the gears is perfect. Another thing, it WILL NOT go into overdrive. Wondering if this is a valve body gasket issue or an electrical issue. Any advice?

Could be a broken band. Is your overdrive light flashing?

Might try adjusting the front band, Loosen the 19mm nut and hold it and turn the 8mm square head stud in. It should turn in 2-3 turns and stop, if it turns in and does not stop band is more than likely broken. The servo piston is also known for breaking the pin out of the center of the piston. With no codes its just a guess. Let us know what you find.

I hooked up a scanner and it is giving me codes for the transmission. P1762. Is the code.

5r55e?

Shifting through the rest of the gears is perfect. Another thing, it WILL NOT go into overdrive. Wondering if this is a valve body gasket issue or an electrical issue. Any advice?

I'm assuming that you have the 5R55E instead of the 4R70W. When you select "1" that is 1st speed and 1st gear (2.47:1). When you select "2" that is 3rd speed and 2nd gear (1.47:1). So when you manually shift from "1" to "2" you're skipping 2nd speed. In "D" 2nd speed is normally achieved by engaging 1st gear and overdrive (2.47*.75=1.86). Since your overdrive is not functional there is a problem with the 1>2 upshift.

P1762 indicates failure of SS3, SS4 or the OD band.
