tranny swap??

i have a 2002 explorer xlt 4.0L sohc 4x4, i just swapped out the motor from a 2003 explorer sport im pretty sure it was a 4x4 it came out of. i bought the tranny too just in case. we got the motor in and now i have tranny problems. i dont know for sure which tranny it is the only difference i know for sure is that the new tranny has a dipstick. can anybody tell me if this tranny will work or not assuming that it is the 4x4? any help will be appreciated thanks guys

well i realize now that the old tranny was the "w" and the one i have ready to put in is the "e"...from what im reading is this correct? i also realized that when we put the new motor in we used the 2003 torque converter and put it in the "W" tranny. is this what is causing my transmission problems??
