98, 4.0 ohc, trans code D i believe.

first, how much does the pan hold? im swapping out the TCC tomorrow.

second, which filter do i get? they have listings for a shallow pan and a deep pan. how do i determine the difference?

Takes about 3.5 quarts for a pan drop on a 4WD.
Deep pan is 4WD.

While we are on the same subject, how much fluid does a pan drop for a 5R55E tranny, 4WD need?

When I changed my ATF I got 4 litres out of the cooler lines, so maybe 6 quarts?


PLEASE NOTE: I only did it that way because there are no 5R55e gaskets or filters kept on shelves anywhere in Australia and I needed new fluid immediately as I had "blackened" my fluid on the beach from high tranny temps due to a busted cooling fan.
