I've got rusted and leaking trans cooler lines they are leaking close to the bend by the bellhousing. how hard are they to replace? can I possibly cut them off back where they are good, which is about half way back on the tranny and run rubber line up to the front and connect it to the rubber lines that run to the cooler in front of radiator? If so do I need to reroute them away from the exhaust?

Metal lines are more durable for long runs. You could buy metal lines in an auto parts store, and bend them with a tubing bender. Rubber lines are fine for a short bend.
