Hey guys I’m gearing up to change the oil/filter on the bottom of the tranny does anyone know the bolt specs for the bolts that are on the bottom of the transmission? I figured I would check them since I have the pan off.

V6? From the 1996-2000 Explorer/Mount. workshop manual, the 5r55e and 4x4, the transmission filter screw is 71-97lb/in, and the pan bolts are 115-133 lb/in.

im talking about the bolts that are behind the trans filter. But thank you for excluding the pan specs.

Valve body bolts? If your not working on the VB, dont "F" with the bolts!

Good to know thanks!

Don't over tighten the pan bolts even factory spec may be to tight depending on the gasket you are using
I used a all rubber gasket and factory spec bent the bolt holes on the pan and squished out the rubber gasket
I ended up at 72 inch pounds with a little lock tight
