When going into reverse or drive there is a clunk from the rear end. I thought it had to be a U-joint so I went to the delearship (extended warranty) and they claimed all was well. Instead they suggested a flash update/reprogram the tranny. This seemed to work for about a week but now we are back to the same clunk.

I went under the truck myself and I did notice the shaft connection to the transfer case has a lot of play in and out. No leaking or signs of other wear present. Front shaft did not have any play.

Still the U-joints or could it be the transfer case connection? Any thoughts appreciated.

Common among these rigs, my 2wd does the same thing.

Sorry for the delay... Happens on flat surfaces. Understandable on slopes but seems odd for flat surfaces.
