Hi Guys,

Just finished putting the Transmission Pan on with the replacement valve solenoid (Thanks Rich!) and i've got the Comma AQ202 lined up and ready. Now comes the dipstick....

All the Manuals, Haynes, Online and the owners manual show and describe the transmission dipstick as having 2 holes for a cold refill and a crosshatched section for the hot top up, however these are pics of mine....

Is this the correct dipstick for my explorer? I have a 05/1997 4.0 V6 2nd Gen.

The Dipstick has a cream plastic tip at the end with the Crosshatchings with the "H" for Hot on, on the back towards the bottom it has a "x" on it's own (Not a manufacturer leftover bit)

From memory its the same as my 98

Thanks Janolsson, It would of been strange if it would of been changed to a different dipstick. The "H" Zone will be the hot ATF level, is the "X" on the back the cold fill level?

that looks the right one ...
tricky to get it at the right level till the oils good and hot ...
good luck with it all :)

Done It! New Gasket, Filter, Valve Solenoid and 6L of AQ202 and my gearchanges have gone from lumpy to as smooth as my E-Class, all for a change of ATF! After draining the old treacle i found it was 1L over its ATF capacity, That won't of helped then...

way to go (:
glad it all worked out
