I have an '02 ST with 91K+ miles. It has had no transmission flushes or filter changes and I am embarassed to admit this. Anyway, I plan to flush the trans this weekend and put in a new WIX filter. I thought I would use Amsoil fluid but I only have a gallon jug on hand so I would have to buy Mobil 1 ATF or similar to make up the difference. I need to know how many quarts I need for a complete flush. Or should I just change the filter and replace that fluid and then a couple of months later do the total flush with a new filter?
Also, I would like to put a temp gauge on the pan. Would it be better to have a fitting silver soldered to the pan for the sender or buy one of the cast aluminum pans that has a drilled and threaded place for the sender? Does Summit Racing sell the aluminum pans for Fords or do I have to find some other place?
Thanks much for your help.
My apologies on this thread. I just found the archived ATF change by Dr Bob in the How To section. I'll search better next time I look for a task on my ST.
