Transmission gone bad! Help!

I have a 1996 V8 AWD ford explorer and tonight it stopped going into third gear and would just rev up, goes 1 and 2 gear fine. I need to know what kind of transmission to look for? will 4x4 transmissions swap? looking to buy used tranny or get a bench job! help me please! just in stalled touch screen cd player, body lift, tt/shackles, 33 nitto extreme and 18 inch chrome cruiser alloy rims! wanna be able to ride around and show it off lol! thanks sidney!

I would call the tranny shop and have them get you the tranny info, either they can get it off the VIN or a number on the side of the tranny.

It cost me 1800 for a rebuild of my tranny, or 1700 for a rebuilt unit, I went with the rebuild on mine since I know its history. I know my local junk yard had one for 800, but typically those have been through a collision and could be damaged.

i paid 1900 to have mine rebuilt and have nothing but problems since. i lost od and reverse asnd now i have reverse but no od.
