Transmission interchange????

I am looking at a 97 Explorer with a 4.0 OHV, not SOHC

Needs a trans, I was told they are 97 specific???

Or will any 4.0 OHV 4 speed work?

Anyone know what years use what trans and what I can use in this truck?

I'm wondering the same thing. I have one of each and am wondering if I can use the transmission from one in the other.
