Transmission issue-please help 5r55e

ok 1st off im sorry if this trend has come up, im sures has, i i been looking online quite a bit to try and find people with my same issue.

the other day i was driving normally and i stopped at a red light and my truck went into 1st gear fine then second fine, but wouldnt go into 3rd. so i stopped pulled over and shifted through all the gears from p-1st.

drove a bit hitting the gas a bit harder and it shifted.

stopped at a red light again, same issue.

i got home and parked it for 2 days.

i got into the truck 2 day days later and i let it warm up while, about 20 mins.

everything shifted ok but rough, now i noticed its shifting rough from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3 every once in a while and in OD.

ive read a valve body rebuild can stop this problem, and fix the issue.

if any1 can provide any info i would be extremely greatful.

my vehicle- 2001 explorer sport trac, v6 4.0 sohc, 5r553 trans 87,000 miles

Did you try to rebuild the valve body yet? The transmission section has a sticky thread called the 5R55E valve body rebuild diary.

i havent yet, but i do plan to if that may fix the issue. i started looking through that thread.
