transmission linkage or cable? please help

I went to shift my 94 limited and the transmission will not shift. The dashboard shifyter moves but not the transmission linkage under the car. I can climb u8nder the car and puit it in park or drive but the cable or linkage doesnt work.. I can see a small section of the cable exposed and am wondein? how hard of a job is it to replace this cable and where cand you get the cable anyhelp owould be apprecaited
