I'm installing a remote tranny cooler (in addition to the stock radiator mounted one . . . larger tires, towing, and summer temps are really heating me up) and want to buy a switch that turns the fan on at one temp and off at another. ie: on-180: off-160.

What would be a good operating temp?

I thought about getting an adjustable one, but then I'd have to have a gauge as well so that I could see what I was adjusting to. An on/off seems more trick and less of a hassle.

Either way, need to know a good, safe temp range.

Thanks.

The temp range you have there sounds good. I have a temp guage and am running the ford external Tranny cooler that comes with the towing package. I've seen the guage hit 220 on long up hills in drive towing a trailer with 2 bikes. I'm sure that a lot of that has to do with me being on 32" tires with 3:73 gears. I'm hoping to get 4:56s installed next week and I think that'll help out the tranny and make it not have to work so hard to push the tires. Especially since I want to go to 33's when these tires wear out.
