A few days ago I was pulling away from the coffee stand and my explorer slammed into gear really hard and as I was driving down the road I noticed it wouldn't shift and I was going 35mph at about 3200rpm. When I manually shift it down into 2nd it drives just fine but I can only go so fast being in second gear. When its in drive it will shift to 3rd very hard but not until 4000rpm.

Any thoughts on what is wrong I dont know much about trannys. Any input is appreciated Thanks!

Vacuum modulator.

Check the vacuum line first, if that checks out then the modulator is bad.

Thank you that makes sense. And yesterday I started hearing a whine kind of like a vaccum leak
