Hey all...
About 15 months ago I had to have the tranny on my 91 XLT rebuilt. Nice & shiny, and worked great. Suddenly a few days ago I noticed that after 15-20 minutes at highway speeds, it shifts in and out of overdrive to the point I have to drop the shifter down to "regular D". City driving is fine. If I pull over, idle for a few minutes, then hit the highway again, it happens after 5-10 minutes. Very odd. Fluid level is OK.
I know you will all say "Get Thee to a Tranny Shop!", which I will do, but this weekend is their anything else I can check? Are transmissions totally autonomous, or do they rely on the computer/sensors/vaccum/etc to know when to shift? (Forgive me, for I am ignorant to the ways of the transmission)
Finally...Shouldnt this rebuilt tranny have lasted more than 15 months!!! Wouldnt ya know I only got a 12 months warranty.
