I have a transmission fluid leak from the front seal. It will cost $700 to fix it or I can do a complete rebuild for $3,500. Since the truck have 110k miles is it a good idea to do a complete rebuild or just fix the leak?

If I do a complete rebuild what stuff I need to make sure they fix and what rebuild kits you recommend just in case I decide to do it by myself? Thanks!!!

That is steep! I would get it rebuilt but shop around first.

When my transmission was rebuilt in 2012, it was $1,700.

I checked prices around and I can find cheaper price but I need to know what parts are a must that need to be replaced.
My guess is that the lower price will change less parts then the highest price.

Take a few moments to understand the difference between rebuilt and remanufactured:

Thanks!!

Based on that reman are better. I found this shop that do reman locally, what you think?

Sounds perfect. Of course, your next challenge will be to determine whether they do what they claim. :)

Time will tell I guess

Get a reman from RockAuto. It is an ETE transmission that is properly upgraded, has a great warranty, and costs ~$1500 when you use the 5% coupon and get your core deposit back.
