Ok, my problem of grinding while shifting into 2nd has become much worse. Although I had stopped the grinding because of some very careful driving, I let off the clutch too quick after going into 2nd, and my 91 Sport let me know with a nice clunking sound followed by a terrible grinding. I immediatly went into third and continued driving. At the next stop sign though,I went into 2nd there was absolutely nothing there. It was like I was in neutral. Anyhow, I'm assuming that I managed to strip my second gear down to metal shavings and my transmission will need a total rebuild. I'm looking for any input on where to go to get this done (tranny shop, dealership, mechanic...), or if it would be cheaper to buy a remanufactured tranny and swap it myself. Anyone maybe selling a Mazda 5spd? Anyway, any input or advice as to what I should do would be greatly appreciated.
