I brought my Explorer to the dealer because of the noise I was been hearing from under. The noise becomes more frequent when releasing the gas until I lost the reverse. The dealer said it's the tranny. Called the Insurance (extended warranty) and approved the cost of labor. I found out later, after asking what was wrong with my trans, they said they don't know. They (dealer) just replaced the tranny with a new one. A year 2000 tranny? I asked and they said yes. I was so excited when they called me to take my Explorer home. What a feeling when after less than half mile, that noise is still there! I made a U-turn and brought it back. The foreman of the shop test drive it with me and surely the noise is there. He drove it inside the shop and after a few minutes he talked to me and telling that they have to check something in the transfer case and I have to leave my Explorer overnight. Whoaaaa! I don't have any choice.:( I wish they found out and repair my Explorer soon.

No test drive???

I would hope that any major work that needs to be done to a driveable car would start and end with a test drive. It's too bad they didn't check it out after the work.
Well, at least you may get a new transfer case out of it through the warranty.
