- 2003 Mountaineer AWD
I have a 2003 Mountaineer AWD Premier with 180K miles. During light to normal acceleration the transmission seems to skip. The RPM's stay steady so I don't believe the transmission is slipping. The vehicle idles smooth and otherwise runs great. I've read that others with similar issues have replaced the Transfer Case Control Module (TCM) located behind the glove box with success. I looked behind my glove box and that module is not there. I have also read that some models, perhaps mine with the AWD, instead have a Powertrain Control Module (PCM). Does anyone know if this is the case for the '03 Mountaineer and if so, where is the PCM located? Or is there a TCM for this model and it's just located somewhere else? Any help is greatly appreciated.
