Ok guys I have a 97 Explorer with 5.0L V8 with overdrive auto trans and AWD that is wrecked engine and tranny are in great shape. I also have a 2002 Mercury Mountaineer with 4.6L V8 with overdrive auto trans and AWD. The trans in the 2002 Mountaineer is starting to give problems. Can I swap the tranny from the 97 Explorer into the 2002 Mountaineer? It would be great if I could since I had the tranny in the 97 rebuilt almost a year ago and it was working great. Just dont want to spend another $3000 on a tranny rebuild if i dont have to. Thanks in advance for any answers or suggestions.
