TreadWright, Inc. Tires

I found this website, because I was interested in retreaded tires. Looks pretty legit, and they make a bunch of sizes, could be of some use if you're looking for new ones or upgrading. I haven't personally used them, so if you order from them, it's on you if something happens! lol.

I had a set of the 31-10.50-15 OTR Muds... Great tires. Took about a week to get, they had to make a set for me as they were out of stock when I ordered. They were great in the snow, went everywhere I wanted to. Tried pulling a dodge ram out of snow, dug myself in almost to the frame, unhooked the chain, and they climbed right back out. The tread might be on the softer side, but they wore well, with no defects. The only flaw I had with them was the amount of weight it took to balance them. But then again, the BFG's on my Sport took a ton of weight to balance too...I would order from them again. I would not hesitate to put those on my ex either.

Yessss!!! a review!!

The weight thing kinda sucks, but I get my tires balanced and rotated at the local high school, so all I pay for is the weight! lol.

How many miles did they last? I know the website says 2 years and xx000 miles, but i'm just curious.

I never had them long enough to find out how they would last. I had them mounted on rims from my old truck and went to pick them up to put on my explorer and my dad had junked them on me. I had them for about 10-11 months, and they still looked fairly new, so maybe 30-40,000 miles?

I am glad to see someone has used these tires. I checked out the site/articles/stuff, and have used retreads in the past. I am seriously thinking on getting a set, once Shady is repaired.

I was looking locally for tires and the blasted things are at least $80 each for basic A/Ts...not cheap...and the ones I _really_ wanted were nearly $125 each...

One quick question since I noticed that one of the sizes was 31-10.50-15 OTR. My truck right now has 235/75/15s on it, that size was a stock option for '91 Ranger 4WDs. What is the difference in size btwn those and the 31-10.50-15 OTRs? Also, does OTR mean Over The Road or something different?

This is a very viable option for me now. YEAH!

The OTRs are pretty beefy mud tires, but did great in the snow for me. The difference in size is about 2", 29" vs. 31" tires.

They are the same as high-tec retreads (they changed their names according to the faq). I've read lots of good reviews about them. Can you pick you carcas with those??

Dan,

Thanks for the info. I am a little, no, let's make that a LOT rusty on tire stuff these years...lol.

I used to run retreads on the wrecker I drove to save a bit of bucks as the 6ply tires were NOT cheap.

do you mean th eoriginal tire? like what it says on the side? i was wondering the same, and i'm not sure if you can, it'd be nice to match all 4, but if i can't i'm not to worried.

did anyone try the green diamond versions of their tires?

im' sure for the extra five bucks or so it'd be worth it if you have wet/snowy conditions. it's the same tread just with an extra compound added in for grip.

so i'm guessing everyone is liking the site i found?

you can get 37x12.0r17 for $145 a piece! 35x12.50r15 are under $100 a piece

nothing new they have been around for years, they were very big with guys over at the rangerstation. They used to be called High-tec Retreading (as mentioned). I never tried them but have been eyeing them up for about 4 years, the green diamond carbides look interesting, but I have yet to hear of anyone who has tried the retreads with them in :dunno:

According to the site, you can order 4 matching carcasses. As for the green diamonds, I didn't have them, I can only imagine how well they would have gripped with them.

Dan

then i guess that's a nooooo

I didn't mean to sound so negative, these types of threads are what this website is all about. This will give many people who have never heard of these tires an insight on what they are and the options that are available for a very reasonable price. Those who have heard of these tend to not mention things like this much, so it is always good to re-hash the topic from time to time..

You get

You need to contact them to find out if the carcass you want is available. But they will put the treads on any carcass you want (that is available)

whenever my replacement credit card comes in... thanks dog for chewing wallet! i'm thinking i might go ahead and replace all my ball joints, and replace the one tire that's worn unevenly because of it.
