Tricks for servo circlip removal?

Yet another 5r55w tranny with worn servo bores. I am doing this one my back, and circlips are winning. Any tips or tricks for getting these clips out?

Yes. It's possible to compress the spring enough to allow the end of the clip to be rotated into a position which is good for drilling a small (1/8") hole through the aluminum housing in line with the groove. A thin punch is inserted through the hole forcing the clip inwards enough to get hehind it with a small screwdriver. Did you remove the heat shields in the way? Before you do anything, back out the band adjusting screw 2 full turns. imp
