I have a 92 Ex with an A4LD and a bit over 200K miles. When I'm at highway speeds and step on the gas while in OD (4th) the trans comes out of 4th and just revs rather than going into 3rd. Depending on how much I let off the gas it'll either drop back into 4th or into 3rd once the revs drop with a big clunk. Downshifting into D manually works fine. The problem started off only happening at higher speeds (say 65-70mph) but then worked it's way down so it was happening at as little as 55mph. I just finished adjusting the bands and the problem seemed gone for 90% of my road test (and I was really trying hard to trigger it) but it did happen again on my way back home so there may be some temperature component to my problem.
