Hmm, contemplating just driving out Thurs night and heading back Sat morning - if I can get away.
You ARE coming out or we will come and get you.:p:
We should be out there Friday by noon (I want to be there by morning, but hey).

Oh, and for anyone driving in there for the first time with an RV or large vehicle. It only looks like you can't make it down the access road with a Rhino, but an RV can actually make it. Just make sure and check for any oncomming vehicles before you commit.
You sure you don't want to camp closer to the relay tower in case it rains (harder ground, easier to get in and out of than that little trail)? Like here;
AAA_Truckhaven_2.jpg

This entrance is 2.0 miles west of the second closed road on the right if you are heading west on S-22, and 1.5 miles east of the huge relay tower.

I also have it on GPS
33 degrees 16.751N
116 degrees 03.550W
395' above sea level.

Its right up to the edge of the bluff, facing north looking into Truckhaven. It has an access trail directly down from the campsite that I saw a Tacoma drive up. This is where I wanted to camp for TDS 2007, but the spot was taken. If the spot is taken, the first arrival can just drive east down the road that curves along the bluff until they find a good spot they like. That is our RV in the picture.

Picture of access for eastbound traffic;

Looks like any rain out there will happen tonight into tomorrow then partly cloudy and low to mid 70's from Turkey day on:D

Got a small job to do on Friday, hopefully it takes me just a few hours then I can head out.
Colin, i'll call you to find out where camp is since you'll most likely be there before me.

Just watch out for Sunday guys.... I heard The W may come bye:(

My front driveshaft is to short :( That happens when you push teh front axle forward 4" I am hoping I can just get a longer yoke and it wil be fine. If not I plan on trying to retube it myself. I have today and Friday to work on it to try to get it ready. We wont be bringing Tracy's jeep as we blew a powersteering line and have to have one shipped in and wont be here in time. I have another person that might join us with an early bronco as well.

Wow, 4" huh? Should have a nice approach angle now. Did that affect your steering linkage at all?

It rained nice and steady out here in the early am hours and it's supposed to rain some more today. Hopefully T-haven is getting as much and won't be so dusty out there.

Matt, just retube it. That what I did with mine..;) I pushed mine 5" forward, and just using a first gen shaft that I got from the JY and then cut and sleeved. Super simple:thumbsup:

So, where are we camping?
Matt, you should make a square tube drive shaft. Then you should have it all worked out by the time I get around to doing my SAS!

I have in the past cut and lengthen the driveshaft. Tracy's dad worked with drivelines for 30 years. They are down for thanksgiving tommmorow (25 people at our house) and he was telling me how the the slip side comes in different lengths. We pulled mine apart then went to dana's website and found one 2" longer the will slide right in. called a few driveline shops and found one that would work and picked it up. Hope to get everything done on friday.

Nice Matt!

Brian, I'm game for the spot you were talking about. I guess it would be nice to find another spot to camp. We also won't be right next to that busy "closed" road on the busy weekend. I'll just have to remember to put the coordinates in the GPS to find it. :)

Okay, lets make it the spot I was talking about. Just remember the entrance is on the right, 2.0 miles west of the second closed road on the right if you are traveling westbound on S-22....
Or, on the left, 1.5 miles east of the huge relay tower if you are traveling eastbound. Its also just past a steep canyon that comes nearly up to the highway on the left if you are traveling eastbound on S-22. It comes up fast, the first time I overshot the turnoff and I knew where it was. If that happens, you can just go down until you see another turnoff on the left and take that, then drive up to the bluff and turn left on the nice hardpacked trail along the ridge. A few camp sites have places already cleared out for tents. My favorite spot is the one where my RV is parked in the picture because its right up to the side of the bluff and there is a access trail to Truckhaven right there.
Anywhere on those bluffs will do, there are a few trails down to Truckhaven. I am trying to get out early on Friday morning, but you know how that goes. Since Rossana is not coming out this time, we might have a chance of getting on the road early. I am planning on having most stuff packed up by Thursday evening. Then Friday morning, pulling out the RV, hooking up the Explorer and hitting the road.

Hey Brian, was that the place we camped when I rolled? :roll:

I hope to be out there early friday. I'll take some clothes in case I stay till sat. or sunday.

Yes it is your flop spot:roll:. You have got to face your fears, Tom:p::rolleyes::confused::eek:

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!:thumbsup:

Is the dirt road perpendicular to the s22 or is it one of those 45°ish roads?
Its pretty close to 90 degrees from S-22. It has two small rock piles, one on each side of the entrance. Right after you enter the dirt road, is splits around a large bush, then comes back together.
I just can't say perpendicular without laughing.:p:
