Replaced the battery on my 91 ex, and I have been trying to figure out what this part is. It is directly to the left of the passenger side headlight in front of the battery. It looks like a computer or something with a wire harness type bundle going to it. It says Motorcraft on it, and has part number EDIS6 on it. I am sure someone knows what it is and what it does. Thanks

That would be the ICM (Ignition Control Module). Works with the main EEC-IV computer to control spark.

Thank you very much, do you think this would have any involvement with a high idle problem? I have replaced about every sensor from the IAC to the MAF, and still have the high idle intermittently, driving me nuts for years. Just exhausting every option here, thanks for the quick answer, I was thinking it was the computer. Thanks!

I wouldn't think so. I'd be more inclined to look for something else (intermittent vacuum leak or ???).
