so i bought a set of 5 spoke black rims and the spacing to fit my 98 ex sport is correct, 114.3... however when i went to put them on they fit on my lugs, however the center hole of the rim could not fit over my center hub(center of axle, center circle that comes out in middle of all 5 lugs)... this is due to the hole in the rim not being big enough to fit over the circle.......

now my question is could i just have the hole in the center of the rim made bigger like at a machine shop or something... would this be better than geting a wheel adapter... and does anyone kno how much it would cost to have that center hole of my rim made larger?

yes you can bore out the center bore
but make sure the offset of your wheels is correct
if it has a small center bore its most likly a fwd wheel
and in turn will have a high offset

And if thats the case, you would still need spacers/wheel adapters to bring out the wheel
hope that makes sence

yea that makes sense... they r both 114.3 is that the spacing you were speaking of? it just seems that the center hole is the the only restriction... thanks for any help guys i know you all are more knowledgable than myself

ummm. If you just bought them, I would call the place you got them from and a.) make sure they sent you the right wheels (what you ordered for your truck), and b.) see if they have the right wheels and can exchange them.

Why spend more money machining wheels you just bought? It won't be cheap. I would try to get the right ones first.

It sounds like you have FWD rims, that's the reason the hole is too small.

114.3 is the bolt pattern which is 114.3 mm, which is also the same as 5 x 4½, which means there are 5 holes, and they are spaced 114.3 mm apart diagonally (which is the same as 4½"). Ford, Dodge, and Toyota all use this bolt pattern.

The offset is the distance from the mounting hub to the center of the rim. A rim with positive offset sets further under the fender (shallow dish). A rim with negative offset sits further out past the fender (deep dish). Using an adapter makes the rim give a negative offset look (sticks out further).

You can bore the center of the rim out, but make sure it is done correctly or your rim will require a whole lot more weights to balance (I would not bore mine, unless I completely trusted the machine shop). Using adapters is a better idea, even though I don't like the idea of adapters on a vehicle.
