I'm thinking of purchasing a Turbo Charger for my 2002 Explorer sport 4.0 V6. Any suggestions on what to do or not to do? Any ideas on how many horsepower that would add?

who makes one is my question ? no i havent done any research, just never heard of one being made for explorer...

there isn't one, TONs of fab to make it work and If you have to ask how much HP it will add its too much work for you.

How about a super charger

Would a supercharger be any different?

supercharger definitly

A supercharger would be much easier because you wouldn't have to muck with the exhaust. More importantly, there are several writeups here on the forum that should help out.

I got $10 says this engine never see's either
Prove me wrong :)

That about sums it up.

That was a complete custom job. Brian has done a few diffrent superchargers that was from a Eaton M112 off a lightning.

I know, but so would a turbo. The reason I posted is so every one knows that it's been done and that it could do some damage to your engine.

Yeah. a turbo setup would be very difficult, in my opinion. I've never seen the inside of the engine bay on a 4.0, but you'd have to make custom headers so that all six came into one, have room for the turbo, and then figure out a way to get the exhaust out of the engine bay.

not really. check out this website http://www.ststurbo.com/home . with the right size turbo this setup would work. i'm thinkin a t3/t4 hybrid turbo with a small exhaust housing. all you need is the oil pump to pump the oil back to either the valve cover like they do it, or to the oil pan like a traditional turbo setup. have someone locally fab. all the pipes for you. just run 5-6 psi like most supercharger kits do. this is what i am thinkin about doing just haven't emailed them yet to see if they would sell me just the oil pump.

just my 2 cents!!
