Turn off alarm system 1997 Explorer

I have a nice 1997 XLT, 5.0/auto and keypad system. Have the keyfob and it functions correctly, but when I unlock the driver's door with the key the alarm goes off- very annoying. Is there a way to simply turn the alarm system off with no side effects so I can lock/unlock doors with the fob or key? I don't need an alarm system, would just like to disable it and be able to use the fob or key as I wish for locking/unlocking. TIA

OK, let's try again- lots of threads on correcting, stating etc.- anyone know how to just turn the alarm system off, without any side effects in other systems?
