Did you ever get to the junk yard to open one of the cylinders up? Pictures would help everyone if anyone gets one taken apart and checks out the inner workings.

Its kinda ratchet mechanism with teeth washer and a spring..very similar to how pen button works..really nothing new to discover..very boring to mess with..just drill a hole and refill with fresh oil or a grease
